Overview
Leason Ellis represented Tianhai Lace, the world’s largest lace manufacturer, in a copyright enforcement action against Zara involving six (6) registered lace designs. Tianhai maintains one of the industry’s most extensive portfolios of original lace works, and the complaint alleged that Zara infringed these designs through the unauthorized manufacture and distribution of garments incorporating Tianhai’s protected lace patterns.
The Firm served as litigation counsel from the inception of the case through its resolution, managing all aspects of strategy, discovery, and enforcement. By advancing a clear and well‑supported infringement theory and maintaining thoughtful, disciplined case management, Leason Ellis positioned the matter for an efficient and favorable outcome.
The Firm ultimately secured a favorable resolution for Tianhai, protecting the client’s valuable design portfolio and reinforcing its position as a global leader in lace innovation.
