Overview
Jarryd R. Werts is a senior associate in the Patent Practice Group at Leason Ellis, where he is also a member of the firm’s Pharma/Biotech, China, and Japan Practice Groups. He provides patent prosecution and counseling services to global companies, start-ups, universities, and independent inventors, helping clients build and manage their patent portfolios. His clients span a range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, chemicals, petrochemicals, biometric authentication, and consumer products.
With thoughtful consideration for his clients’ legal and business needs, Jarryd also prepares opinions on patentability, validity, freedom-to-operate, and due diligence issues. He regularly represents Leason Ellis at industry events, such as BIO International Convention and the Hon. William C. Conner Inn of Court Annual Dinner, and contributes to the firm’s online publication, the Newtonian. He is proud to have been recognized as a Super Lawyers® Rising Star for multiple years, and valued by his clients for his precise communication and dependable execution.
Jarryd received his JD from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and interned at a media company, as well as the Departmental Disciplinary Committee for the First Department. Prior to law school, he served as a medical writer at ApotheCom, a medical education and affairs company, and received a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Duke University.
