From early on, you will be trusted with meaningful work, whether participating in a deposition, contributing to strategy for a complex filing, or supporting sophisticated client matters. We combine an entrepreneurial mindset with business-focused, down-to-earth problem-solving, approaching every matter with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Our teams are intentionally lean and tailored to each engagement, allowing our people to take on substantive responsibility while delivering effective, efficient, and strategic service to our clients.

And while intellectual property lawyers are sometimes labeled “geeks,” we embrace it. Our team includes professionals with backgrounds spanning pharmacology, engineering, software development, life sciences, and more. We value thoughtful analysis, creative problem solving, intellectual curiosity, and a sense of humor—because exceptional work does not need to come at the expense of personality.

Law School
Summer Associates and Interns

If you are looking for hands-on experience and meaningful involvement and responsibility, Leason Ellis offers an environment where you can contribute from the outset. You will receive practical training, direct exposure to sophisticated matters, and mentorship from experienced professionals invested in your growth.

From your first few weeks at the firm, you will work alongside litigators, patent attorneys, trademark lawyers, patent agents, technical advisors, and business professionals on matters involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, transactions, and complex intellectual property disputes. Depending on your interests and technical background, you may assist with patent prosecution strategies, trademark clearance and enforcement, licensing and commercialization matters, due diligence for transactions, PTAB proceedings, TTAB disputes, or cross-border portfolio management.

You will also gain exposure to clients across a wide range of industries and technologies, including life sciences and pharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, software and technology, media and entertainment, consumer goods, transportation and aerospace, energy, and professional services.

Because we encourage small, collaborative teams, students are encouraged to participate actively, ask questions, share ideas, and take ownership of their development. We are committed to helping our people build meaningful careers.

Mid-level and Senior
Associates

For associates and lawyers looking to grow their practice in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment, Leason Ellis offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced practitioners across disciplines while taking on meaningful leadership responsibilities and developing strong client relationships.

Our lawyers regularly collaborate with our team of partners, patent agents, and technical advisors on sophisticated intellectual property matters spanning the full life cycle of IP across almost every industry. Many matters involve complex technical subject matter and international coordination with foreign associates, clients, and cross-border portfolios.

Whether your focus is prosecution, litigation, transactions, counseling and advisory, or a hybrid practice, you will find a platform that values and rewards initiative, practical judgment, and long-term professional development. We offer associates the opportunity to build substantive experience, contribute strategically to client matters, and develop their practices in a supportive environment without unnecessary bureaucracy or rigid internal silos.
