Martin Schwimmer to Speak at AIPPI Conference in India

Marty Schwimmer will speak at the AIPPI Conference in Hyderabad, India on October 15, 2011. The title of the forum session is "Twitter, Facebook and Other Social Networks - Implications on Trademark and Domain Name Protection." The session will explore questions related to social networks and trademark and domain name protection strategies from different angles including what words or design elements are worth registering and what use in social networks can be considered a trademark use to maintain registration. Furthermore, different infringement scenarios will be discussed, including the liability of social network operators for infringements committed by their users. Finally, names used in social networks can produce conflicts similar to domain dispute scenarios, so the session will address how these cases can be handled.
