Peter Sloane's new article on the role of prefatory language in the identification of goods and services in U.S. trademark applications and registration was published in the October edition of Intellectual Property Today magazine. The article posits that while such wording can serve a notice function, it arguably does not have any legally cognizable significance in defining the scope of the trademark claims.
