IN MEMORIAM – PAUL FIELDS
The attorneys and staff of Leason Ellis mourn the loss of Paul Fields, our beloved friend and mentor. Paul passed away earlier this week due to complications from a medical procedure. He was 80 years old and worked on cases until nearly his final day.
Paul practiced law for nearly 55 years. He proudly earned his J.D. from New York University in 1962 and his B.E.E. from the City College of New York in 1958. Earlier in Paul’s career, before devoting much of his practice to trademark law, he designed new radar circuitry at Columbia University Electronics Research Laboratories and he worked as a patent attorney at Bell Telephone Laboratories.
Before joining Leason Ellis, Paul was a founder and name partner at McAuley, Fields, Fisher & Goldstein and he was the Chair of the Trademark Group at Darby & Darby, where many of us had the privilege of working with him. He was also a long-time and esteemed member of INTA and ECTA.
We were inspired by Paul’s extraordinary legal ability, his fervent dedication to his clients and colleagues, and his insights on intellectual property prosecution and protection. We will also miss Paul for his great warmth and sense of humor. Our hearts go out to his entire family including his wife, Susan, his daughters, Michelle and Meryl, his son, Larry, and his five grandchildren.
The funeral will be held this Sunday, March 19, 2017, at 1 pm at the Gates of Zion Cemetery at 670 Saddle River Road in Airmont, New York. His family is sitting Shiva at 51 Lyncrest Drive in Monsey, New York from Sunday through the following Friday.
In lieu of flowers or food/gourmet baskets, The Fields family requests that charitable donations be made to the following organizations ~ two causes that were extremely close to Paul:
