WHITE PLAINS, NEW YORK - Melvin C. Garner, a luminary in the field of intellectual property law, is joining Leason Ellis LLP, the largest IP law firm based in White Plains, the county seat of Westchester County, New York, as Partner. Mel was previously with Darby & Darby P.C., one of the oldest intellectual property firms in the world.
Mel specializes in the procurement and litigation of patent, trademark, trade secret and copyright matters involving various technologies including laser applications, video circuits, cellular telephones, office products, medical products and computer hardware and software. His clients range from Fortune 500 and Forbes International 500 corporations to small and mid-sized companies.
Mel is a Past President of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association and of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and a board member of the National Inventors Hall of Fame. He is also a founder and member of the executive committee of the Hon. William C. Conner Inn. Mel is listed in Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Patent Law Experts. He has also been named as a "New York Super Lawyer" for the past four years. Mel has also been a commentator on patent issues including on the CNBC television program "Power Lunch."
Joining Mel at Leason Ellis is Mitsu Haraguchi, a registered patent agent with a Masters of Science in Biochemistry. Mitsu speaks Japanese and worked in the Japanese Practice Group of Darby & Darby.
