Mitsu Haraguchi

专利代理人

Mitsu Haraguchi is a registered patent agent and Group Manager of the Japan Practice Group (JPG) at Leason Ellis. As a native of Japan, Mitsu helps clients, especially Japanese companies, establish intellectual property rights, and he specializes in domestic and foreign patent procurement in the areas of chemistry, biochemistry, material science, mechanical engineering, medical and pharmaceutical products among other fields. It is his meticulous attention to detail which brought him the reputation that he and the JPG members enjoy with clients. Mitsu is dedicated to all aspects of patent prosecution including drafting claims and specifications, responding to office actions, appeal processes, and third-party submissions. His practice also includes preparing opinions, conducting patent infringement and invalidity analysis, and freedom-to-operate studies.

Mitsu firmly believes that the practice of law is both a craft and an art. As a patent practitioner and an artist, Mitsu embodies this concept in his work. Preparing patent documents is tantamount to creating a work of art to him as it requires a touch of creativity and a significant amount of perspiration. According to Mitsu, the sense of accomplishment that you have when an application is allowed after overcoming formidable rejections is the same as the one you have when you create a fine piece of art. Mitsu holds a Master of Science in Biochemistry from University of Tsukuba in Japan and a Master of Fine Arts from New York University, where he was honored with the Departmental Award for Excellence in Directing.
