Cha Hyung (Catherine) Kim is an associate in the Litigation Practice Group at Leason Ellis, where she focuses on complex intellectual property matters involving patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. Her practice centers on pharmaceutical, chemical, biology, medical device and material science related technologies, and she regularly advises clients on disputes and transactions across the life sciences sector. Catherine also supports clients in technology‑driven transactions, including licensing agreements and M&A involving IP assets.
Catherine is passionate about advancing science and technology through strategic legal advocacy, a commitment that has guided her focus on intellectual property law. She has experience in all phases of litigation, including discovery and motion practice through trial, in cases involving pharmaceutical, chemical, medical device and materials science patents. During law school, she served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Jimmie Reyna at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Catherine earned her J.D. from Cornell Law School and Yonsei University Law School in South Korea. She holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH).
