Yuval H. Marcus, formerly of Gottlieb, Rackman & Reisman, Joins the Firm
WHITE PLAINS, NEW YORK - (June 10, 2009) - Yuval H. Marcus, an intellectual property litigator with 15 years of experience, has joined Leason Ellis, LLP, the largest IP law firm based in White Plains, the county seat of Westchester County, New York. Mr. Marcus is Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Westchester County Bar Association and a Co-Chair of the IP Committee of the Westchester/Southern Connecticut Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel.
Mr. Marcus joins the firm as Partner and will focus on litigating patent, trademark, trade dress, copyright and trade secret cases in federal court; Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy proceedings in the World Intellectual Property Organization; and oppositions and cancellations in the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
A seasoned litigator, Mr. Marcus counsels domestic and international clients on how to utilize effective strategies to strengthen intellectual property rights in advance of litigation and how to minimize the risk of any necessary litigation. He works closely with his clients to understand their short- and long-term business objectives and develops programs designed to take advantage of the various IP tools available.
Mr. Marcus has a broad range of experience in many different fields including computers, software, children's toys, publishing, entertainment, restaurant, hotel, apparel, jewelry, luxury goods, cosmetics, furniture and other consumer goods.
A frequent lecturer and writer, Mr. Marcus recently presented "Trademark Infringement Liability Based on the Use of Trademarked Keywords" at the Search Engine Strategies 2009 Conference and Expo in New York City. He has also authored and/or co-authored three articles published in May 2009: "TTAB Fraud," published in The Intellectual Property Strategist; "The Importance of Corporate Copyright Compliance," published in VIP Magazine; and "Rescuecom v. Google -- The Second Circuit Holds that Google's Sale of Trademarked Keywords May Give Rise to Liability for Trademark Infringement," which was published in the Westchester County Bar Association Newsletter.
The addition of Mr. Marcus strengthens Leason Ellis' litigation practice. "Yuval is a tremendous addition to the firm. His experience and abilities in the court room round-out our practice and enable us to enforce our clients' intellectual property and also defend our clients against charges of infringement," said David Leason, Managing Partner of the Firm.
Leason added that "we are just down the street from the White Plains Federal Courthouse for the Southern District of New York, so Yuval can file patent and trademark litigations more easily than mid-town Manhattan firms."
"I am thrilled to join Leason Ellis," said Marcus. "They are thriving in a down economy by offering high-quality services combined with the newest technologies to effectively serve their clients," he adds.
Mr. Marcus joins Leason Ellis from Gottlieb, Rackman & Reisman, P.C., an intellectual property firm based in New York City, where he served as Counsel. He was also previously associated with Ladas & Parry and Squadron, Ellenoff, Plesent & Sheinfeld.
